The project was born in New York as Aurora Arteaga & Strings, in the fall of 2016. Aurora, a composer and singer, had a long-standing desire to create a project involving strings, voice, and contemporary jazz.

This was brought to fruition with her self-arranged compositions for string quartet (classical format, 2 violins, viola and violoncello) + a trio of jazz (piano, double bass and drums) and voice.

In May of 2016 they made their first recording in the studies of the Institute of Audio Research of the University of New York, invited by the renowned engineer Rich Blakin (Frank Sinatra, Stan Getz, Bob Dylan, James Brown, Paul Simon).

After Aurora moved back to Spain, the project was reshaped with new arrangements and a remarkable group of Spanish string players including Elisa Tejedor, Willy Gallego, Clara García Lorenzo and Javier Moreno.

They perform their music at Cultura Salamanca Foundation,Majadahonda Music Hall, Carlos de Amberes Foundation (Madrid), Urriés Music Festival (Aragón), VoWeek Festival (Alicante), National Museum of the Energy (León), Café Berlín, Notas de paso Festival (Asturias).

A number of dear musicians have contributed previously to this project with their art and generosity: Hoo Kim, Billy Test, Kae Nakano, Mariya Polishchuk, Cecilia Bercovich, Conrad Sclar, Tzu-Wei Huang, Arco Iris Sandoval, Marty Kenney, JaeHyeok Oh, Mitsuru Kubo Hunter, ShinHwa Lee and, of course, my teacher Jim McNeely and engineer Rich Blakin. Thank you all.
